So I am driving my 97 sunfire with the 2.4 down the road about two weeks ago and at a stop light i give it some gas to get off the clutch maybe 2000 rpm. All the sudden I head a bad noise, sounded like a rod bearing. So with further investigation I listen around and it is coming through the timing chain housing. So I do the timing chain, pretty big job might I add. So I put it all back together and the noise is still there. So I went ahead and took the intake cam off, as that where it sounded it was coming from. Nothing wrong. So we decide to take the engine out. Got the engine out and noticed that the flywheel was just dangling. I mean all the bolts were on there last thread. So a word to everyone that gets there clutch done, make sure you watch the person or make sure you know them very well.

There was a tread not too long ago about SPEC clutches not coming with thread locker on the flywheel/clutch bolts and the stocker ones do have thread locker on them.

and your point? even if it didnt come with thread lock on it, anybody in there right mind would know that if its not there, put it there.
did you just recently have a clutch put in? or are you on the original. if original how many miles are on the car?
Na, I bought the car about 8 months ago and put around 14000 miles on it. The bols were so loose I took them out by hand with no force. I just ordered a fidanza flywheel and exedy clutch, hope they mate good.

how many miles are on the car itself?
hmmmm. do you know if the owner before you beat on it a lot? cause that may have been what happened is they beat on it a lot and caused them to break loose just a little bit. shouldnt have but quite a possibility. every car is different.
