okay, I have an automatic transmission, and after long hours of discussion with my buddies and a couple mechanics, we decided that a shift kit would be more effective than switching my whole transmission...
but, after I put the shift kit in it will work basically the same as a manual.....
i have a few questions though.
1. has anyone done this before? and if so, how well does it work?
2. if i add another tachometer into my gauge pod, will the shift light acknowledge when I need to shift?
Just get a B&M shiftplus or autotrans interceptor

If you want a manual trans.,swap in a manual trans. if not get the B&M shiftplus and all it does is increase the line pressure making the shifts firmer, supposedly helps the bands and whatnot in the trans as well.IMO the only time you should be driving the car like a stick is at the track.

We use shift kits on a daily basis, they work fine if you need any help with this project hit me up
The B&M Shiftplus will make your auto transmission shift quicker than you and I could ever shift a manual. You shouldn't be manually shifting your auto at all.

Yes it will work the same, it still will be automatic, what the mechanics going to do is order a kit for it. or if he knows what he's doing he going to take apart out that makes your car shift in to gears smoothly, and drill a few more holes in side to let the trans fluid flow better. your going to feel the difference when you drive the car when it changes gears it will be hard shift, but will not cause any damage to your trans, the part he takes out is just thier for comfort when the auto trans changes gear. if you know someone in your area that has an old muscle car that is auto they have likely done it to thier trans.
Get the B&M shift + we have them, check out the website, if you have any Q's about them just let us know.
