This morning on my way to work i was going normally from 3 to 4 gear and my shifter broke. It moved as if the end of the linkage was detatched and wouldnt go into any gear, just moved freely like a joystick. i pulled to the side of the road and stopped, checked my clutch which seemed to engage but was either stuck in 3 or 4 so i couldnt take off. my only guess is broken shift linkage, has anyone else had this problem, or have anything else i could look at. my mechanic who i half trust (more so than any other mechanic around here) will be calling me tomorrow morning, and if he tells me i need a new clutch i want to be able to tell him he is full of s**t if in fact its something else.
