Anybody's serpentine slip when they shift?
Monday, March 19, 2007 3:21 AM
I posted something like this a few days ago about a noise when I shift. I have it here because I thought it was clutch related and the noise only happens when I shift at WOT.

Just wanted to know if anybody else has upgraded to a performance clutch and heard a squeek, like a belt slip, when they shift hard. I thought at first it was "clutch chatter", but it's more of a belt squeek sound.

Ceramic clutches are noisy, my Spec 3 ceramic clutch always sounded like somebody was scraping a plate on a chalkboard.

OK, cool. So, I'm not the only one. The item description said it would be noisier, but it didn't describe the noise.
Anybody else?

I don't have an aftermarket clutch kit, but if I am WOT and shift right before redline, my battery lights comes on.

I think I found what was causing the belt to slip. My coolant bottle's overflow hose was pointing straight down towards a flat spot near my pulleys. Every time it drips, it would splash right on my belts and pulleys.
