I have a 1990 LE conv w/turbo 2.0L eng. and auto trans,,is there a 4 spd OD automatic trans that will fit my car.I`m tired of this 3 spd trans.it runs at 3500 RPM on hiways,I would like to run it 2500 RPM hiways.I know the auto trans eng takes a different bolt pattern than the std shift ones,or I would think bout going to a 5spd std shift,,this trans is a strong unit, just no legs----Jack
No.
The OHC pontiac 1.8 and 2.0 use a trans bolt pattern that is unigue to only those engines.

I never heard that the 1.8 and 2.0 had 2 different bolt patterns, between auto and manual...... I did know that they had their own bolt pattern (like the quads have their own).......

Further explanation... there never was a 4spd auto for his engine and no other engine's trans will bolt up.

Thanks for the reply,or mabe I should say,the bad news.I replaced the torque convertor solinoid yesterday, and that helped out some, but still,3000 rpm at 75 mph is still awfully high, but I`ll just live with it---thanks,,,Jack--------when I got the long block from a rebuilder,he asked if was a stick shift or a n automatic,he said the stick has one more bolt in the block than the automatic does.
