Bellhousing are different. You can take the bellhousing off and swap them and put it in.

I don't think there's a bellhousing per se... I think the whole casing has to be swapped.

Actually there is a bellhousing. You could also call the inner case. The outer case (where the tranny mount bolt to) are the same on all getrags. The inner (which includes the bellhousing) is where they are different, but only the bellhousing part.

how hard is it to swap a bellhousing? any pics or something like that where i could find it out?
See this post of mine. Lots of pictures of the inside of the tranny, and you can see how the 2 parts come apart.

my bad the question was in my other post. it was how hard is it to swap the bell housings? it looks like just some bolts and nutis to loosen but am i missing something? is it fairly simple?
Once you know how it is not bad at all. If it is your first time it might take a little bit of time to do. As long as you have air tools, and a new gasket you are good to go.
FU Tuning
but it is just basically pulling some bolts and nuts right? i have air tools and all. also after swapping the bellhousing is the trans gonna go right in with no axle problems at all. as far as length of axles and such?
nevermind the last statement. axle length on all 3rd gen manuals are the same....

well we were wrong john. its the clutch. just driving home from work on lunch break everything was fine. pulled into the local chevron threw some gas in. got in to start and thoomp! clutch pedal went straight to the floor. it had just enought pressure for me to start it and get it home riding the whole way in third gear and not stopping. oh well all the more reason for a stage 2 spec now!

Sucks to hear, but I would just about put money on it you still have a inside tranny issue. Your current problem is in the pressure part of the system (either TOB, or clutch master cly). They usually just go out, not slowly. Your grinding in 3 gear and only 3 gear is not likely because of that. I hope I am wrong because you can just a get clutch and be good. Truthfully your stock clutch is still go.

ok john. (and any others that would like to help. i pulled all the bolts out of the trans that connect the bellhousing. its pried open just a tad but i cant seem to get it all the way off. i double checked everything to make sure i didnt leave any bolts or anything in it. am i missing something that i need to do in order for the bellhousing to pull away from the trans? please help!
did you remove the seal in this picture?
and then the bolt behind it?
FU Tuning
well we figured we had to pull that snap ring but how do we get that bolt out? everytime i turn it the thing above it turns with it
Leave the snap ring. You need a allen socket that will fit that and air impact. We had to heat that bolt to get it out.
FU Tuning
i did the allen with the impact and the bolt would turn but the other thing was turning with it. do i just keep going at it with the impact until it finally comes or what?
It has to come out, but it is not super long. Maybe a inch long. Is the input shaft turning as well? The shaft above that seal? If so you need to hold it.

we used a pair of channel locks and a rag to hold the input shaft....... then put it in gear, and hit it with the impact. I have the special tool now from Kent-more that slides over the input shaft, so you can hold it
Once you have that bolt out, use a LONG extension and slide it down in the bolt hole..... use a large mallet to tap the shaft out of the bearing..... case comes apart, then you can bolt the new bell housing on.
