Saab tranny

Has anyone done or heard of anyone swapping in a Saab 6spd to the LD9 motor. I have a 99 Z24 with a turbo and need to beef up the tranny now. I can get my hands on an NVGT550 but want something that will be good on the highway as well (lower rpms at higher speeds).

i would like to know if this tranny would be a direct bolt on for a 2003-2005 ecotec

You take a women and X her by PSI devide the legs and you can then juice the car......LOL

the saab tranny will not bolt up to an ld9. it does match up to an ecotec, but it is not a bolt in deal. custom trans mounts and axles will be needed at the least.

it would be awesome to have a 6speed tranny, i would save so much gas on the highway

Hmm....I thought the eco and the LD9 share the same bolt pattern since the LD9 getrag tranny also bolts to the ecos. Could be wrong.

The final drive is 3.94 on the 5 speed, 3.38 on the 6 speed. Not a big enough difference for all that work, unless you spend all day on the highway. Getting on and off the highway would still suck the fuel away

It's not the same... the bellhousing is different between the 2.2L (LN2), the 2.4L (LD9), and the 2.2L Ecotec (L61). You *might* be able to match up enough bolts to make it work, but it's not the same bellhousing.

Hmm.....do you know the part numbers of the 2.2 eco getrag and the 2.4 getrag? I have a tranny here that I can't remember what it came out of a 2.4 or 2.2eco and I obviously have a 2.4.

First, bolt the trans to the engine..... second, find out where the trans mounts need to be, fab up some brackets, and weld them in...... third, test out your axles, or pick some up from the donor car, and see what you can make work..... fourth, make some shifter setup work.

So thats a difinate no go on the LD9?

If you do get it mounted what about clutches and flywheels?

What about its ability to hold power? Even if the final drive ratio isn't much different it could solve the problem of our 3rd gear, it seems to take forever. Maybe i just need more power.
