clutch pedal not releasing properly.

My 5 spd 93z24 has been driving fine up until the drive home from work tonight. As soon as I started to drive the clutch pedal was hard to push down and to a few seconds to release. It has never done this before. The only tranny problem I have really had is a occasional clunking noise when shifting into reverse.

It was the coldest night of the so far tonight but I don't think thats the problem. Work is about an hour away and theres no way it didn't warm up after that.

When I was at light a few blocks from home I pumped the pedal a few times and it almost went back to normal. It still feels a little harder to push in and it feels like there is a little hesitation at the top of the release.

A few other posts mention the slave cyninder which doesn't impress me at all. Any one have any ideas what i need to look for?

Thanks.

Mine does that too.. It recently got to -56 where im at and my cluch pedal would stick to the floor for a second then slowly come up... after 5 min of driving it would go away.. It's also a b*tch to get into first when coming to a stop. 70,000 miles on origial clutch and gear chattering p.o.s.! LMAo Cold weather is the craps on cavy 5spds

I had a similar problem with my 99 Z24. Clutch pedal was stiff to push down and would take awhile to return to the top position. Turned out to be the clutch master cylinder. Simple fix. Just two bolts in the firewall and had to bleed the system. Got a used one for $40 at the wreckers. Hope that helps.
