Will a stock 03' cavalier ecotec transmission (auto) handle a turbo?
You have no proplems, how many pounds are you runing
you should be fine. 4t40e is rated to handle around 300/325 torque from what i have heard... just get a tranny cooler, tranny temp gauge, and something to help the shifts be firmer.

Nice, what do you recommend to help the shift?
I also have a 4T40-E and have plans to go turbo. Is yours a custom setup
or is their a kit out there that bolts right on? Also can you explain to me how an automatic car/J Body function a turbo like a manual?
a turbo system doesnt touch a tranny, its not like a pipe runs to the tranny or something weird... as long as the tranmission (any transmission) can handle the added power then you should be fine....
hahn kit bolts up, including the stage 2 which includes the intercooler... but from what i have heard, the piping for the intercooler didnt fit auto jbodies cause the tranny is go big so they said its not compatible with the auto
my kit is a custom setup
all you need to go is get a tranny cooler and temp gauge, and get something that will increase your shift pressures (B&M Shift Plus, AutoTrans Interceptor or something, or Hptuners) and you should be fine for up to some pretty nice numbers...
