hey guys..i finally got my new input shaft seal/bearing for my 93 NVG..problem is i reallyyyy dont wanna take this thing apart AGAIN just to change this seal..has anyone changed it from the outside? some special puller maybe?
trust me take the trans apart. You CAN do it with the trans together but it is a pita.
dude i really dont wanna go thru that again with this tranny
whats the secret lol just pry it off? i cant seem to find a puller with long enough arms...i dont wanna @!#$ up the housing itself but i gotta get this thing off..i have to replace that cup seal AGAIN if i take it apart..and thats a 2 week order part from lansing..and the stroker is suppose to go in SATURDAY !!!
You can remove the detent cover without damaging it, just remember to make sure it's not bent at all when you reinstall, and put sealant around the edges. If you do manage to poke a hole in that middle rubber part, I used JBWELD to seal it overnight and it was rock hard in the morning. It hasn't leaked a drop.
Don't be afraid to open the tranny to do this, it's honestly the best way my friend. Have sealer on hand and a magnetic tray for the detent balls.
Good luck, let us know how it works out. *thumbsup*

I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
magnetic trays are awesome for the detent balls... the first time i did mine i didnt have one and ALMOST lost one of the balls in the t/g garage
