I just bought a 95 Sunfire GT 2.3 quad 4... 5 spd... with one bad tranny in it and I took it out and got another tranny from the junk yard....put that one in and the car drives fine in all 5 gears.....I put the tranny into reverse and it does go in....but when I try to get it to move backwards the car only grinds and wont go back although it does seem to try.... If i take apart the tranny what should I look for? can it be rebuilt? what other transmissions will fit? will a 2.4 5spd bolt on? or must I swap axles as well? please help...thanks alot guys!
keep your stock axles...go to the yard and find yourself a 5speed getrag transmission that came with the quad4 High Output from 93-94...youll get a stronger tranny with a better gear ratio..and its almost a direct bolt in...many threads on here show how to do it..i think i even posted pics not to long ago
93-94 what? im sorry im pretty new to anything with tranny's...engines i know...tranny's i dont? What vehicles can I find these tranny's in?

1993-1994 grand am , beretta , achieva . or olds cutlass that came with a 2.3 quad 4 HIGH OUTPUT.....get the 5speed tranny of it...youll love it
and all of those trannies are just bolt right on with no extra modifications? basically a plug and play?
