5th gear

When do you Ecotecs hit 5th gear? Becuase I heard of this mod that you can do to automatics, which is called "final gear", where basically you make your ecu think that the automatic gears are shorter like the manual, but the speed limiter is reduced to when the normal 5th gear starts. But anyways, when does the Ecotecs manual 4th gear end at?

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAH. That is the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard. There is almost no way you are going to make a automatic 4 speed transmission drive like a manual 5 speed transmission. I don't care what car it's from.

1) This "final gear" you speak of is probably OVERDRIVE. It is a function of the transmission, not a mod.
2) 4th gear on a 5spd can be stretched to the speed limiter and beyond. I have hit 115 in 4th gear before. I'm sure it will go further too.
3) There is no magical mod that is going to make your automatic drive like a manual. If you want it to drive like a manual, swap one in.
4) Who told you of this "mod"? ClubSI.com? Some idiot street racer?

GG, I'm not making it into a 5speed automatic. My friend has a G35 automatic 5speed and he told me that he went to the junkyard and pulled something (I forgot what he said what) from the tranny of another G and put it in his tranny and his ECM read the gear ratios from a 6speed manaul, but kept it to 5 speeds. His gears swiched much faster (like a 6speed manual), but his top speed limiter was dropped to 140, instead of his stock 160 (because that's where the manual 5th gear ended). I was just asking if I could do that on my Cavi, so next time don't say there is no way if you don't know what I'm talking about nigglet.

He lied to you. The coding for manual trans and automatic trans cars is different because of different sensors. That's common sense, which you seem to have none of by your reply.

And if you wanna call me a nigglet again you better do it in person so I can jack you. I hate the "N word" no matter who says it. It's especially bad when idiots use it and try to be cool by it though.

It's been done to more G35's in this area. He showed me personally. And how is nigglet the "n" word? It's a kiddy word, idiot. I'd like to try and see you try and jack me without getting shot. Want my address? PM me phuckface.

It might be possible there is some kind of mod for the G35, but for a j-body there is not.

I don't know who to blame on this one. Hypsy for being the usual jackass as can be expected, or dario for not knowing any better?

The jury's still out on this one. Personally, I've heard of OD but have never heard of a mod that'll do this on a j-body. I think the closest thing to this would be LSD or something of the like.

Thank you, all I needed to know; that it couldn't be done to our J's. Not no jack4ss telling me it's impossible and that I'm talking stupid.

Literarly, it is a mod, but in a way it's more of a swap. You swap something from the 6speed mani G35 or 350Z and swap it into a 5speed auto in a G or Z and the gear ratios change, but you have the same amount of gears.

Someone help me, I am lost.

You can't put the computer from a manual car in an automatic. Manual computers lack ANYTHING that has to do with shifting.

What am I missing?

*Common sense alert* You can't change gear ratios without swapping gears. *Common sense alert.* The only thing that could POSSIBLY do this is a new rear end gear....but that's not an easy swap for most people.

*common sense alert again* I thought from my reply that it was obvious that it couldn't be done. *end second alert*
