well i have a isuzu 5 speed z rite now but iam wondering do the getrags have better gearing ?
and will my flywheel and clutch and pressure plate for my isuzu work in the getrag
so what is better isuzu or getrag
and will my clutch and flywheel and pressure plate work with a getrag in they where in a isuzu?
Thanks,
Paul
getrags have better gearing..any they are stronger..so with a getrag
92-94 quad4 HO equipped cars..take the 5speed tranny and put it in your z with a light flywheel and nice clutch and youll never look back
is there any modifications needed like tranny mount welded in or anything? or are the mounts in the same place as the stock isuzu?
Thanks,
Paul
I'd like to know as well, might be an option for a tranny for my brother's 98 Z24 with a blown tranny.
bump!
any one cuz i can trade mine for a 92 grand am getrag at a yard by me so do i need to weld a bracket in if i do thats no problem as i can do it my self just want to know what iam getting into sense my car wont be running tell spring because of the engine build so i cant really test fit or any thing
so any brackets need to be welded or any modification at all will my flywheel and clutch and pressure plate all work with this tranny???
Thanks Alot,
Paul
Alright.......
For simplicity sake...... The older trans we put in 3rd Gens is a
NVG (new venture)......... It is based off the older Muncie/Getrag transmission........ We use the internal slave version, the NVG-T550.
The Getrag for 3rd Gens is the
F23 Getrag, 00-05 Cavaliers/Sunfires/Grand Ams/Alero........
There are How-To's on swapping from an Isuzu to either of these transmissions, in this forum.

if your talking about the older getrags from the early 90s then NO ..no modifications is really needed...just gotta mix match mounts...you want to use the upper/rear tranny mount from your isuzu and keep the front mount that comes with the getrag...the upper mount isnt an EXACT fit on the getrag tranny but all you need are a few washers ( or equvialent) too fill in the gaps and itll fit tight..
only other thing you need to do to make it fit is make a SMALL extention for ONE of your shifter cables..very easy stuff
