Ill add to that.... You will find Getrag trannys in alot of performance apps. From the SVT Focus to Porsche... Dunno any other specifics, only reason i know about the focus is from working at a Ford dealer for 2 years and replacing some morons clutch 3 times.

You can expect it to be worth the money. Simply put.

The tranny seems to shift easier. In addition Reverse is syncornised in the Getrag. In otherwords, you can be moving forward and put it into reverse and it wont grind. They also seem to have a bit less parasitic loss than the Isuzu (more HP at the wheels). And they're stronger than the cheap version of the Isuzu trans that GM made. The REAL Isuzu would be a different story.
To swap the trans, be sure to have a good welder available. It doesnt just drop in, the mounts are in differnt spots. You'll also need shifter cables, and possibly axles as well.

I KNEW IT!!! I kept tellin the guys at work that my reverse had to be synchronized but noone would admit that a Sunfire would have that when a Cobra Mustang doesnt even have it.
I never thought to ask, but im glad you said that.

OMG! you have a 95? with a HO engine?? and you havnt gotten a getrag yet???? you dont want the NEWER one you can use the old one that CAME with the HO engine!!! its a drop in man!! same axles..same shift cables..same mounts! BETTER GEAR RATIO..and even accepts the team green LSD EASILY...am i missing something? cus you shoulda hadthat tranny a long time ago..just find a 92-94 HO car and get the tranny..just make sure it has TWO mounts..cus some of the 92s only had ONE and you shouldnt use it
^ Well there ya go!

Well I guess I'll start searching, I just put a high output head and cover thats all. Im not the most educated about trannys. This info cheers me up alot, anybody know of a place were I can get this tranny? My local junk yards suck around here!

search for achievas, grand ams, calais, or berettas that had the HO engine..you want the 5 speed tranny that came with any HO engine from 92-94...and remember ,if its a 92 make sure you ask them if it has one mount or two..cus you need the one with 2..other than that just make sure they warranty it for a while and bolt it right up..a getrag engine with a lightweight flywheel and clutch is ALOT OF FUN
I love the getrag tranny, BUT in the last six months, i have rebuilt twice, so i dont know whats wrong, i know its not my driving, but yeah, could it be the 18s?
Thanx a hell of alot this really is great news. ( now me and the mad scientist have to rip and pry the... ) I think paint can wait now! You seem to know alot scott, thank you so much

call me what you like but i liked my old izuzu tranny...maybe better then my getreg i have now
New Venture FTW!
its not "DROP IN" but its damn close. no rewelding.. just be sure to grab the mounts from it (specially the front).
I have one in my garage
Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
yea...hes kinda right..its not "drop in" per say....you need to use the front mount that comes with the tranny...you need to use the top/rear mount that came with the isuzu tranny in your car...and youll need to use washers on a couple of the bolts to get them to line up right..but well talk in detail abou that when you actually get one
i got 151k on my stock isuzu. i got no complaints.
The 90-91 Ho tranny ARE the best
But they don't fit as easily.

Would you mind explaining? I have a 93 NVG out of a W41. I thought they had the same gear ratio's, other than the W41 has a shorter 5th gear. .81 or something close to that if I remember right, and the HO's had a .72 5th gear. Havent heard anything on whether they are stronger or not (the 90-91), so shed some light Gilles.
you cant use the 90-91...period..
it only has ONE mount, and as it WILL bolt up you need TWO mounts...think of how your engine would run with no lower mount..pretty crappy huh? so it take it from someone who already used that tranny( me) and fixed his mistake and got the 92+
scott, I was joking. I know the 90-91 don't have the dog bone. Also, it's already f*** up with one mount.
The ratio vary between each tranny. In 90 you could get different final drive and gear. It depend on the car you had. Like the tranny I have right now rev higher on 5th gear than my stock one. So it's either a different 5th gear or final drive.
Also, The NVG are just as good as the old getrag.
