just wondering what internals could i put in my trans housing that will fit and run. i have a 97 5 speed with 2.4....and also whats the best gears to switch to if i was planning to change the gears around while im in there.
I been reading alot of info about the geo storm SOHC trans and was wondering if i could directly swap my trans for one of those. ANy and all info is well appreciated

Geo has a different bell housing bolt pattern, and it uses a mechanical clutch, not a hydraulic.

that wasnt the question im asking about internals of geo fiting inside my bell housing, is there any mods that need done or will it just fit straight up

what i need to know is if the internals of geo trans will replace the internals of my trans without having to modify anything

I remember reading that the gearsets swap right over. Simple search should find what you are looking for.

maybe this is what you're looking for. I just put my tranny back together last night (96 2.4l 5spd w/ 93 geo storm SOHC spiders) and in the process I tried a few combinations with the geo parts.
1. Spider gears swap right over
2. 5th gear from geo will not work w/ 2.4 input/output shafts
3. geo slides are larger diameter than 2.4's
4. geo case will fit and bolt to 2.4 bellhousing (I didn't try w/ internals in)
5. input/out put shafts are of different lengths
6. as far as gears swapping I don't know, I didn't want to dissasemble the shafts.
As you can tell, I wanted the geo case and slide/forks for the neutral saftey switch built into it (worry free remote start!) but I couldn't get it to go.
