Rebuild a rebuilt trans again?

1998 Cavalier Z24 5speed manual tranny
So about 16,000 miles ago at 100,000 my spider gears went they charged me around $1000 for labor and parts and everything worked on from there. Now 16,000 later (116,000) I'm having problems. Its now poping out of 2nd gear when any type of force is applied. Grinds in 3rd and the shifter itself will rock forward and backward while in the 4th gear position. The trans shop i took it to says its something internal but they won't know till they open it up and take a look. So now I'm stuck with deciding should I get it rebuilt again depending on whats wrong? or should I just get one with low miles if I can find one for around a decent price? It'll cost close to $400 just to take one out and put one in on top of whatever a used trans will run me or if I decide to get this rebuilt... So any suggestions would help a ton.

Damn, $1000 for parts and labor when a new tranny is $900...

Personally, I wouldn't do it, just get a new one.

Well, yeah, its technically called re-manufactured, I don't think you can find the transmission new anywhere anymore.

Alright so I had the trans shop look at the trans and now there saying its a bearing that went (forgot which one) but he stated it was just bad luck that it went out... Well I had problems 1 month after it was fixed they said they couldn't find anything wrong and now 10months later its a "bearing" that is just bad luck that it went bad... so now they want around $850 just to replace that and he says I shouldnt replace anything else cause it all seems ok. Ok so what I'm asking is should I get a complete rebuild, replace a certain part, or what because I do not want this to go bad in another 10 months again.

Oh and he cut 3 hours off to make it $850... I want to say I'm willing to spend $600 for u guys to fix it and thats or, or do a complete rebuild for me and hope its not more than $1200 for parts and labor + $390 for the R&R.

Anyone know of what I should do with repairing this thing? Replace a certain part because... or... do this because of so and so miles u have now, any ideas would help a lot, thanks.

Oh and another thing there are no trannys I can seem to find in Michigan now and Autozone charges $1250 w/ trade in and it takes 7-10days to get which is a "re-manufactured" transmisson for 98 Cavalier Z24 5 speed.
