Shifter housing and mechanism

I have a 97 Sunfire GT with 5sp. I was wondering if there existed an aftrermarket replacement for the shifter mechanism in these cars. I have the "2,4,rev gears don't work" problem and was able to trace the problem to the shifter mount assembly. Turns out there is a stress crack in the metal and the whole assembly moves when you try to change gears.... Now I plan on getting a short throw shifter as well but I want to get a newer more solid assembly as well.

I have a 97, what years use the same assembly? If they're all the same then great! I just want to make sure before I go to a yard and start ripping things apart....!

Thanks for the help guys!!!

Jay

Well, If anyone cares, i fixed my problem.

Turns out one of the cables was so frayed on the transmission end that it looked like a ball of barbed wire!!!
I put in the new cables and now I have a smooth shifting tranny!!! I also replaced the shifter assembly and it is more solid feeling than it was before.

A B&M Short throw is a good addition too.
