Hello all,
Does any one know where I can get an exploded view of my transmisson? I have read that the syncos are plastic, and I have one more week off, so I want to change them out myself. I just need a picture, and a part number of the syncros. My problem with my transmission is here:

If any one has any help, thank you in advance. Allen

syncros are not plastic, they are a brass type matl. the shift forks have plastic ends on them that love to bend/break causing pre-mature faliure of the syncros.
i may have an exploded veiw somewhere, i'll dig around when i'm at the shop tomorrow

I have heard of plastic syncros, wouldn't suprise me if gm decided to use them to save some $$$ though

when you beat someone in a civic people wine and make excuses
when you beat someone in a cavalier they pull over and check under thier hoods
ok i read your other thread, first off how did they bleed the clutch? i would take a peice of 2X4 or anything really and pin the clutch pedal to the floor over night, sometimes its just the only damn way to get the air out of these hyd. clutches. second off i read that when you dont use the clutch it doesnt grind if your around 2000rpm. what about if you take it to 4500rpm in second gear then pull it out and move the shifter over to the third gear position and then apply firm pressure to the shifter without using the clutch it should just slip into place when the rpm's fall to the right speed (dont have your foot on the gas) if it slips in no grinding then i say could be air in the slave cyl. if it grinds then yank the transmission out and get a used one or new one..
GM wants 600bux for a basic rebuild kit for the getrag (just syncros and some gaskets nothing else) and about that for the shift forks (this is canadian dollars)

It grinds when it hovers over third. I've had this car bleed so many times, the 1x2 stick is still in my car as I used that over night plent of times. I have even had the car bleed using the vacuum method.
It is at the local AAMCO right now. I have spoken to the manager a couple of times about this car. He's trying to get me to let them rebuild it, I'm sure he is after the money. I already have $1500 invested in this problem (including the rental car), I'll get a quote from him. 90 miles away I have found a YARD with a 2004 with only 3000 miles on it. The price is $450. Is that a good price?

seems like a good price to me, i'd snatch it if i was in your shoes.

I did not get the transmisson yet. The local AAMCO guy had a good point, he has to remove my current transmisson either way I go. It is not costing me that much more to have them tear down my current tranny and give me a quote. If I am quoted more that $450 to fix the current tranny, I will just drive down to the Yard near Daytona Beach and buy the tranny there on Monday.
I do not want to go any where near Daytona today or tomorrow. NASCAR is there for the night races.
AAMCO did my tranny when it was still under warrantee and the warrantee company wouldnt let me take it anywhere else. Then they blamed the problem on me and wonldn't pay for the replair. O well, anyway, AAMCO wanted $2300 to rebuild or $1800 for a used replacement from a grand am with 40k on it......get the $450 one out of the yard and just have them R&R it.
I drove down to M&K Auto near Daytona today. I got a tranny with 17K on it for $400. After I got back to Jacksonville and took it to the AAMCO, I realised the case has been repaired. The repair was not near anything internal, near the mount side. I have my fingers crossed it is a good tranny. The AAMCO guys really wanted me to rebuild it, but after looking at Joshua's prices above, I can put in 3-4 used trannys. AAMCO says they will not get to it until Wednesday.
I'll get my current tranny back, then I'll work on rebuilding it myself for a backup. Heck, my case is perfect, how hard to change out internals?
I wish I knew what was required in chainging out a Tranny, and I'd just do it myself. Any guides online?
if you still need it by later tomorrow (wednesday) i can go to my dads shop and get the manul and scan it for you. i haven't worked on my cavys trany or anyothers but if its like a auto neon tranny or semi close to it, semi comon hand tools work. ait tools work nice but i dont know if you have them or not. you will need a ring spacer, ring compressor, variation of sockets, hammer, all new seals amd that good stuff.
now do you have it apart rigth now or is it fulling togeather?
Soooo, does anyone actually have an exploded view?
And as far as synchros go, 1st & second are supposed to be brass, the rest are supposed to be carbon fiber....not plastic.

You must have the F23 confused with another trans.
Also why the hell would you revive an old thread?
Exploded view, as in a GM drawing? Or a dynamited tranny?
I was looking for the GM drawing....and this was the only thread I could find about it....that is why I revived it...
Aparently I didnt do a good enough search is all
Although who wouldnt like to see some pics of a dynomited tranny.
Now, if I could only remember how that brace bolted on....Anyone have a picture of that rod that bolts to the tranny & block?
