'04 shifter in a '02 Z24?

I am just wondering if this shifter:

will fit into my '02 Z24 cavalier... thanks guys. my mechanic said it had to be a "1:1 match, no other years will fit". i didn't know if he was just trying to sell me something or what... but i just wanted to be sure, thanks.
