The tranny in our 1997 z24 had the spider assembly literally strip out and I just finished reinstalling the tranny in the car. Now the problem is that when I went on the initial test drive I encountered 2 problems. 1- VERY loud gear noise, especially in 3rd gear and mainly on accel, almost non-existant during coasting(clutch pushed in). 2- did not always want to go into 1st gear, it would partially go and then as soon as I would let off the clutch it would grind and kick out. Any help is much appreciated and idea's from you guy's that have the experience with these cars. TIA
ALSO-- ALL parts were meticuously inspected and cleaned prior to reassembly.
I think when it pops out of first like that you are supposed add more fluid
the problem could also be your synchro's..how did they look?
Synchro's, blocking rings, gears all looked normal( ie, no abnormal wear). Fluid is full and it does not leak. I am lost with this one.
you figure out the problem yet? sounds like it might have went together a little bit off :shrug
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
im not sure if this helps but the last car i had 98 hyundai elantra was said to do stuff like that if you put too much fluid in the tranny but i think they are more temremental then the cav
might be something simple..... double check the cables first, make sure that its got enough travel to get into the gears....... if thats ok, then time to pull the trans apart and try again.....

check where the cable is held in place in front of the shifter sometimes if those clips that hold em into place are broke then you will have problems. i know when mine broke i couldnt hit 1 5 or R.
