I crashed my car today and i would like to know because i saw like a redish brown color come out of my car. My air bags came out do you like it will be totaled? I hit the bottom really good.
excuse my typeing i am still shook up. Could it be my radiator?, that is where i hit it.
Well I don't know about the standard, but the automatic transmission fluid is red. Another redish fluid is the power steering fluid, but if you said you hit the low part pretty hard then it may be transmission fluid. Got any pictures for us to determine wheter you should declare it totalled or not?
it's red. coolant is green, so it's nothing from your radiator.

The Anti-freeze GM used (Dexcool) is orange(maybe a darker burnt orange if old), it's a little heavier than straight water. The Transmission fluid is dark translucent red to reddish-brown and is about as thick as motor oil. There is a transmission cooler in the (drivers) side tank of the radiator, where the tranny fluid circulates.
if its red, its tranny fluid, i wouldnt recomend driving the car, if its even drivable.
depending on how bad you hit, and from what you said above, that you hit the bottom really hard, the insurance will most likely total the car out.

anyway, at least in AZ, if the air bags pop, then the car is totaled. Resion being is state law says if the air bags are deployed, then the car can only be sold with a salvage title.

Dexcool - yellow to orange to pink, depending on supplier. It's orange from the factory though.
Not-Dexcool - Green. Never came in a third gen stock, but someone could put it in if they flushed it first.
Auto Transmission
Red to brown to black, depending on age and how hard you beat on it.
Manual transmission
Red to golden to brown to black... depends on the transmission and the fluid you put in it. Getrag, GM says use ATF.. which should be red.
Based on what you said... you punched the auto trans cooler in the rad... and trans fluid is leaking. Don't drive the car, you will kill it... moreso than it already is...
