I have a 95 Cavalier 2.2L 3speed auto. After the car has been driven awhile sometimes 1/2 hour sometimes longer. The trans locks up & the car stalls. It will start back up but stalls as soon as it is put back int gear. It does not matter forward or reverse. Any ideas?
I don't know for sure on the 3 speed, but some autos have a locking torque converter and it may be locking up on you causing your stall. If you have a service manual see if you can find it in there and disconnect it if you do have one.
seems like the tcc solenoid. like mentioned above. look on the transmission for a blue electrical plug and unplug it. drive around and it should be alright temporarily.
I am having the same problem with my 97 2.2 3spd. Any chance someone who has had that problem could take a picture or it, or slightly better describe where it is located on the tranny? I only can see 1 plug, when I unpluged it there was no change. Much appreciation
