Have a 91 Cav basic 4cyl auto. It drives out great...UNTIL I stop really quick then it seems to stay in high gear and shudder & kill. after re-starting it drives OK. This only happens when I stop hard, normal driving everything is OK. Is something going out? Is some sensor bad?...or...SHOULD I DUMP IT QUICK, before it dies completely ? It has 134K miles
Thanks
If it only happens after highway driving it is likely your torque converter lock slonoid that is getting crappy. Not an unusual thing to happen with that many miles. Not a big deal to replace and not too spendy so check on it and not just dump it.

It only happens when I stop hard-otherwise OK. Is it an internal repair that has to be done?(pull trans etc?)
Thanx
WOW!
Thanks for the how-to on the solenoid change , sounds very do-able.
My next weekend project
