3spd auto tranny slipping

Yes I searched this topic but I like the answers to be vehicle specific to my car and problem so here it is, I was driving today and when i came to a stop i went to accelerate and it was reving but no going anywhere for about a second or two then it caught and went. It only does this when I come to a complete stop. It just started today and it has never done it before. I checked the fluid with the car running of course and looked alright to me, the fluid on the dipstick was very bubbly tho and it was kind of dark red, didn't look extremly dirty tho. Should I be planning on buying a new tranny or should i just flush/change the fluid and put a new filter on? I just want to know the steps I should take to diagnose the problem before I have to buy a new tranny. Thanks.

The fluid shouldn't be dark red. Does it smell burnt? Hpw many miles since the last fluid change? Do you load the TC allot? Do you have a trans temp guage and what temp does it run at?

Try the fluid change first, the friction modifieres may be used up or the fluid is just plain old. If it runs hot, that will kill a tranny faster that almost anything else. If that doesn't do it, time for a rebuild.
