4t40e Q

why is this tranny such a blower? I have replaced one in each of my cavailers. is there anything I can do to stout up the tranny. all i know is to put a B&M on it to flow more fluid through the POS. do they make any mounts for the tranny like they do for the 5-speed?

Ever one lives 1 page at a time, some stories are longer than others. R.I.P to one of my many best friends. Keep all the tuners safe. See you soon, Love ya man.

ive never heard many things about them of course anything is gonna go bad if u rod the hell out of it. I have 177k on the clock and mine works great. I dont think mounts would do much for the life of the tranny. You may want to change the fluid regularly and not have such a lead foot

Hmmm.... I've heard of lots of people killing the 4T40E with the Shiftplus.

But only one with the Interceptor.

Maybe we're onto something?

Can't we cryo-treat the gears or something like that to make em stronger? My friend did that to his 1.8T tranny.

Gears arent a problem in an auto trans, its is the clutches inside, and the b&m shiftplus tears them up.

Well, I've got 172,000 miles on my 4t40e and is just now showing signs of the TCC going bad and still running great, other than the tcc.
If you read the post about the tcc solenoid in this transmission forums, you can see the basic fix which keeps you from breaking down from the tcc sticking in lock up mode.

Other than that, I still have the autotrans unit on the car with 75percent line pressure and have not changed that setting for the past 4 years. The tranny is running great and swear by the fact that you need to take care of your equipment if you want it to take care of you for the long haul.
