well I was running threw some reasearch on the org and I came across this post made by a smelly bug owner

it talked about FWD grip and I have been wondering about that for a while.

For starters why do auto trans crap out with slicks, even if the power is there.

also im guessing that with a smaller slick they survie better.

any sucess stories from the auto milita

The extra friction from road to tire contact increases the parasitic drag loss. HEHE

I would like to know why my pinnion magically blows up whenever I put on slicks.

I do know that when I had performance rubbers on my Cav the fronts never wore correctly even though I kept it aligned properly. No problems with the rears.

Yeah thats my guess I would imainge that due to the same reason slicks are great for traction is the same reason there bad for trannies

never killed a trans yet with slicks and an auto... you'd probably do some damage to a stock auto trans though.

the extra traction does the damage

and since our cars do not have lsd, our front tires will not wear evenly. on an open diff only 1 wheel gets power. so 1 will wera quicker than the other.

if your going to go with slicks go with a set of 22x8x15 MT et drag i found they are the best size for a J the 22'' tall tire gives the car a mechanical advantage that kind of out weights the part braking traction allowing the car to launch instead of staying still and breaking parts between the mass of the car and the traction plus it lets u use more of each gear before the end of the track for example when i would cross the finish line with my 26'' slicks i would be at 4939 RPM but when i cross with the 22'' slicks I'm at 5837RPM and thats almost perfect plus still leaving me room to go faster.
