OK, my friend just purchased a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire GT, 2.3 Quad 4, 5 speed. The only problem is the shifter. It is really sloppy, and sometimes it is almost impossible to get into 2nd gear, especially when under moderate to heavy throttle loads. It feels almost as if the shifter won't move far enough to engage the car into gear, and then a loud buzzing/ grinding noise comes from the shifter area.
Is there anyone who had this problem before??? Would replacing or lubricating the shifter cables help??? Is there any adjustment on the shifter cables???

Does anyone know if the quad 4 2.3 has the same tranny as the 2.4 Twin cam, or even the 2.2 OHV???
