will the computer from a 99 z24 auto work when plugged into a 1996 2.4 auto instead? the mechanic is assuming if that works then there would be no problem bolting in the 99 trans. in the '96s place and should have no problems on the electrical/electronic side

the tranny mechanic tore my tranny apart today and there were large chunks of "clutch" everywhere, the pin that holds the differential to the long rod, was part way out and scoring the housing, and... some of the plates that were supposed to have tolerances of .050 i could stick my finger in the gap oh, and the oil came out black

so i'm going to pick up a 99 transmission toamrrow for $100, as he wants 800 for a refurbished one, and that's about the going rate for a 96 anyways, so am hoping that they are the same minus the differences in the oil cooling fitting lines and that i can pick up a tranny with the lines still attached...

You can use the 99 in your car with the 96 ECU, the shop is full of @!#$.
