i got a 2001 sunfire 4 speed auto with the traction controll and auto overdrive i have 82K and i want to get the tranny fluid done at 100K. so i went to this tranny place and he said you cant change the fluid. i looked and theres no dip stick theres a little red cap where it would be and thats all. do i not have to change it?
your title askes one question..... but your post askes another......
You know what trans you have because the only 4 speed auto in the J-cars (95+) is the 4T40e.....
To change it, drop the pan on the trans, fluid will run out. Change the filter, install the pan, pull the 'level plug' on the side of the trans....... go up top and fill the trans till fliud comes out the 'level plug' hole. Re-install the plug. Start the car, and cycle it through all the gears, and bring the trans up to operating temp. Pull the 'level plug' back out........ if fluid comes out, let it drain till it stops, if no fluid comes out, add some (from up top) till fluid comes out the level hole.
Thats about it.
If the trans place you went to couldnt figure it out...... DONT GO THERE..... they dont seem to know their arse from a hole in the wall......
