Hi Guys
I just need to know which getrag axles should I use because I have a 5sp getrag tranny out of a 89 z24 with the 2.8 and I need to know if I should use the 2nd gen getrag axles or use the 3rd gen getrag axles and p.s right now I got automatic axles.

I am guessing you need to use the 3rd gen axles...... they should snap into the transmission, and are the right length.
FYI, the Isuzu axles are the same as the Getrag axles..... and I would look for a 93-94 transmission...... since it has the same hydrollic setup found in the 3rd gens.....

Dude your toasted- you need to be more specific when asking a question like this. There are several different Getrags available for both 2nd and 3rd gens. You are using a Getrag/Muncie HM282 with an RPO of MG2. It was only available behind V6 engines. The Getrag available behind the 2.3/2.4 is similar but not the same.
Use 2nd gen axles from any year V6.
3rd gen axles are not the right length. The MG2 trans uses an intermediate shaft, which, AFAIK, no 3rd gens have a similar setup.
The Isuzu axles are not the same, they are smaller diameter. The CVs are the same.
The slave is hydraulic in the HM282 (the trans being used). The only difference between the HM282 and the NVGT550 (the 92-94 MG2) as far as the slave goes, is that the HM282 is external and the NVGT550 is internal. The case is different as well, but other than that the trans is the same.
well soon as it warms up here im going to be working on that tranny and getting it cleaned up and then i will take pics of it

It looks as though its going into a 3rd gen...... and I think the 2nd gen axles are to short..... at least the N-body and L-body ones are (for the same transmissions)......
I'm not to familure with the HM-282, but I thought the intermediat shaft was removable...... in either case, the 95-96 5 speeds did have one.... it was more like a 2 part axle, but it did bolt to the block, it just snapped into the trans like an axle. GM replaced it with a 1 peice axle in 97.
I believe the 89-92 HM-282, and NVG are more work then its worth (going into a 3rd Gen) while the 93-94 NVG would be alot easier.
