ok i think either my shift fork is screwed, or i'm missing a tooth on second gear... but on to my question...will a non-Eco matched tranny mount to an Eco? i'm looking around for good junkyard trannys. i just don't have the $1,700 to shell out on a brand new one

the Eco has its own bell housing...... but you can buy any 00+ F23 getrag trans, and swap your Eco bell housing onto it..... you probably broke the tip off of a shift work (does it pop out of gear when you shift? or not go all the way into one gear?)

yeah, it'll pop out of 2nd. and when i tried to hold it in, it made a hidious griding noise...

you can swap the bell housings? they aren't a molded part of the case? most of the fwd trannies i've seen have the bell housing as part of the case instead of being bolt on.

the same thing happened when my shift fork broke.....
the 5 speeds are 2 part cases..... the bell housing side can be swapped.

sweet, maybe i can just find an older one in good condition and do the swap...

look for a 00 2200 or 2.4..... and swap the bell housings....

Someone should make some stronger shift forks for the Getrag F23, I'm on my 3rd already.
