Spider Gear Replacements
Friday, February 03, 2006 6:26 PM
Has anyone ever had any luck on finding replacement spider gears for the Isuzu 5spd? I am not talking about anything stronger, just replacements that were new. My '99 is currently at the shop and they can't find a single supplier for replacements. They said the closest they have found is an entire diff which of course is stupid expensive when only my spider gears are toast.

I've got a full Geo Storm 5spd. Setting here on the floor I snagged for $50 before the whole Quaife group buy happened. If you want to drive 3 hrs. down here to pick it up you can have it and swap out the diffs.

See the little green gears? Those are the spider gears. Of course this looks a bit different since we have front wheel drive, but same theory applies.

If you are buying a car with bad spider gears, be prepared to replace the entire tranny.

BTW, the tranny shop up here finally found replacement parts somewhere. Hopefully my car will be fixed tomorrow. If it isn't done, then I will have to assume the replacement gears they located didn't fit.

Are you in canada? I just blew up my tranny and the quote to fix it was awesome. Spidergear replaced and all. If not call 1-905-545-6068. Ask for Ron he can help.

I got it back last week. $750 total. New clutch, slave cylinder, seals and spider gears. Nice to finally have my Z back. I hadn't driven it for 6 months.

I feel your pain...it was nice to hop back in and drive around. Only problem is since I bought a new car, I realize how rough around the edges the cavalier really is. Noisy, rattles, rough ride, sloppy shifter, uncomfortable seat, and the list goes on and on. But I still love the damn thing.
