I just installed the spec stage two and the first three inches are nothing and the bottom is where i get resistance but when i pull my foot off the clutch pedal it doesnt engage till the very top i need some help. We bled it but it is a retarded setup.

I've got a SPEC Stage 2 also. I had a similiar problem when I first installed it, but it was because of air in the clutch hydraulic line. Once I bled it properly, it worked fine. But the SPEC does engage somewhat closer to the top of the pedal movement. What engine and tranny do you have?
2010 Subaru Impreza WRX Limited
1999 Cavalier Z24 Supercharged
1999 Grand AM SE (Beater Car)
1997 GMC Sierra
2007 Honda CBR 600RR
2005 Honda TRX450R
2.2 ecotec getrag i think. But i bled it and it doesnt do anything. The clutch slips like crazy when i took it for a test drive i think the flywheel was cut improperly. Im hoping its something i did because im ok with hating myself but if its the guys at lee ill be pissed. Hypsy says my slave cylinder may be messed but i doubt it. It worked fine before hand. Its just slipping hardcore and the pedal is @!#$ty.

had a stage 3 in my 2nd gen. it had the same kind of travel yours seems to have.
it went bye bye after one trip to the drags...
the spec unit was replaced with a bully stage 3. the bully pressure plate is considerably more beefy in construction, and i'll just leave it at that.
Have you seen the turbo wagon?
13.90 @ 105.46mph
street tires
rough tune
My SPEC stage 2 engages right at the top... about an inch from the top.
But I have had no problems... sorry, I think Ryne may be right about your slave cylinder.
the hydrolics of the clutch work perfectly i got a fiber optic probe that we used to view the action of the throw out bearing. I have purchased fidenza flywheel and should be here by the end of the week. As far as the clutch engaging right at the top it doesnt sound right. Should do it right at the bottom. So hopefully that will cure my problem but i will know for sure real soon when i rip the trans and measure the step spec says that the flywheel should be between 750 thousandths and 780 thousandths. But no matter plus the slave is like half in the throw out bearing and half in the like to the throw out bearing. Whatever it is i will figure it out and really be looking forward to breaking it in and tearing up the streets soon.

I had a similar problem with my stage 1. It turns out that the bolts holding my clutch on back out a little ways so it had to take up that slack before disengaging the clutch. Meaning it moved closer to the bottom. Did you use threadlock on the bolts?

Everything was flush and seriously nothing was loose and the second time i took it apart everything looked flawless. Yes i used threadlock on all the bolts. but when this new flywheel comes in ill be pumped to measure the steps on each and put the new one in so if its not the flywheel its a defective part anyone else ever had a defective clutch from spec?

Ive had a few people, not cavalier owners, have defective clutches from SPEC. Mine is slipping when shifting hard, but Im convinced thats my fault.

Ok So I installed my new flywheel from fidanza and all i can say is wow dropping 13.5lbs is nice in the rotating mass area but anyway the clutch still grabs at the very top and it does slip if i go into boost but i think it just needs to be broken in.
