has anyone else had any problems with there shifter not clickin up all the way so that it wouldnt let the key out of the ignition ????

You have something binding the cable or shift linkage. Did you disassembled anything before this started? The center console or anything near the back of the engine or top of the transmission?

If the consle, then it could be the shifter mechanisim or the cable there. If you did any work in the engine compartment, you could have done something to the cable ar the shifter linkage arm, located at the back of the engine on top of the tranny.

If you haven't done any woprk, then something has probably worn out, such as the shifter cable, the plastic cable connector on top of the tranny, or the internal mechanisim may have worn out.

Check all the mechanicals outside the trans first, the shifter mechanisim(for anything interfereing or missing), the shifter cable(any kinks, streatched cable), the shifter linkage arm (anything interfering) and finally the brakets( are the intact?bent?missing bolts?etc..).

After all that, then it's probably internal and would require a shop to determine the problem.
