Im in the process of designing a polyurethane (sp?) tranny mount insert for the NVG-t550 rear tranny mount. reason is i have this tranny in my 98 cavy and i can not find any inserts for it. This is just to guage interest and get any feedback on what you would like in the design process and what materials i should make it out of. Poly was my first choice but my supplier has some other options availible. i just need a couple more measurements to finish it up then i should be able to get a 3d pic of what it is going to look like.
also can work on some other mounts if needed for other cars they are not availible for
guess no one is interested. guess the pic i posted isnt gonna mean anything
j/k hope you like it im still working on some things....
well i hate to say this but this is done before it even started i just got a price quote and to create the mold is goin to cost more then then entire rebuild of my motor so it doesnt look like anything is goin to come off this....
sorry if i got anybodys hopes up i know mine were
p.s. really the mold wil cost about $500 to make so its a no go
If you have the NVG-T550 tranny, the rear mount comes from the original mount that was on the Isuzu tranny. There is already a poly insert for that one. It's the front mount that is the problem. You need to use the front mount from whatever donor car the T550 came from. Its smaller than the rear mount. So if you are going to have one made, make it for the front mount. I'd be interested in one if they are ever produced. All my motor mounts and tranny mounts are poly except for the front NVG mount.

Yes, nvg used a stock rear mount
Blew it up
That is the mount for the front of the NVG, closest to the bumper. You use the stock mount for the rear, closest to the firewall.

ok thats good to know. i guess i havent had it bolted up in a while so i forgot which goes where. lol oh well. either way i need to find out what to do for the trans mount insert. hmmmm....
Do you not have the stock bushing that goes in the NVG mount? If not, that's a bummer. I haven't been able to find any inserts as of yet that fit it.

nope it was falling apart when i took the mount out so im in the process of designin somethin
Well, if you ever get one designed, keep me in mind. I will definately be interested in getting one. Mine didn't look the greatest either, but it's good enough for another year or two.

ill deff keep you in mind. do you care about how stiff the mount is because i was thinkin a completely solid mount
Hmmm...I dunno. I don't exactly like the thought of a completely solid mount. I like there to be at least some flex in it. I'd would consider a poly mount. But whatever you come up with, I may still be interested depnding on price.

told you it was the front numb nuts..... lol
We could always make something like this
solid aluminum is a 'bit' stiffer then urithane though
or pick up a insert from AutoZone..... and fill it with liquid urithane.....
ANCHOR -- NSERT ONLY -- 2803 -- $48.99
DURALAST -- FRONT -- A2803HY -- $62.99 (also insert only)
OR pull a mount out of the drag car, and put your Prothane insert in that, and take the solid Poly one out...... and turn that one down to fit your NVG mount.....

Bringing this back from the dead....but, the NVG I got, they must have had a hard time getting the front mount off, so he torched the bolt, so I need to do something with this front mount. I wouldnt MIND having a solid aluminum insert, which I would have no problem getting made, as two of my dads friends have machine shops..well, one is a fabrication shop, otehr is a machine shop, CNC lathes, mills, everything, and my dads brother has his own lathe, mill, and such, BUT, the only problem is, that some people have to shim this mount to get it to fit, and some dont. This presents a problem for the machinest, because he doesnt know if the insert needs an offset or not. What should I do, just take the mount there and have him make the exact same insert, just out of aluminum? Stock insert is fine, just the metal piece in the middle that has the bolt going through it, is screwed.
Are you on crack?
I HAVE poly front and rear mounts for my NVG setup...
Why are you gonna try to go out and design a new one?

Oh Christopher, I will cut your legs off and beat you with them. I didnt know there was a poly insert available for the front tranny mount of the NVG. All these times you have been hitting on me on MSN, and then the NVG came up, you fail to mention this? Pothead.
where did you find such a beast Chris?
