i was wondering if a 2.0 ss supercharged engine will bolt up to a standard cobalt tranny both 5-speeds of course and if so what are the differeces?
Considering this isn't a Cobalt forum... heh... I don't know if too many people will know the answer...
But the 2.0 s/c comes with a standard transmission already. It's a different transmission than the 2.2, because it's a different engine. The gearing, the bellhousing, etc would be different.
So, no. It likely wouldn't work.
I'm curious tho.. .what are you up to?
im ordering the ss motor and i am going to put it in my cavalier. it is an auto but i thought id swap the tranny too and it just so happens the standerd non-ss tranny is cheaper i thought id give it a shot

there is a reason why this tranny is cheaper. the ss tranny has heavy duty internals. you get what you pay for. In my opinion the base tranny isnt good enough for an aveo.
the cobalt ss tranny probably has the same bellhousing since it is the same block as the 2.2 eco.
Ok, hold up. the 2.0 supercharged SS S/C comes with a standard transmission.
The 2.4L non-supercharged SS comes with an automatic transmission.
fisrt off the 2.0 uses a different flywheel than the 2.2
the 2.0 is a 8 bolt , and the 2.2 is 6
also it has a different clutch , and wether it would work with a base trans no one WOULD KNOW
john the 2.4 ss comes with either a auto or a 5spd , the 5spd is the same trans as the 2.2
the 2.0 motor will bolt to the 2.2 trans , but that is as far as we can say it will work
basicily its best to use all the s/c stuff from the 2.0 on your 2.2
