How much do you guys think it'll cost to rebuild the 4 speed auto in my wifes car. Or would it be cheaper to buy a different one from a junk yard. what do you think prices would be for that. The Trans is slipping and leaking.

much cheaper to buy a decent boneyard tranny and have it swapped in i knwo for a RWD tranny its like 1800 to rebuild

I was quoted anywhere from $1200 to $1600 to rebuild a 4t60e in an oldsmobile, and I though I am not sure if the guys on the other end understood what I meant, when I asked how much to install one I brought in most said they would not do it, and others quoted me $800 to $1200 in labor for the swap. I would say it's worth it to just get it rebuilt if you are not doing the swap yourself.

yea if he could take it out and take it to them to rebuild and then put it back in that would save him a bunch
