ECO auto to 5 spd swap...
Saturday, November 05, 2005 1:11 AM
Hey guys, this is my first post...but I've been watching the .org for a couple months. You can check my details if you want to know more about my background.

I've done plenty of searching (i think) about the swap, but I'm curious about the hole that needs cut for the clutch pedal. Does anyone have pictures of the getrag mounts welded in, and the hole that needs cut for the pedal?

Most of my info came from this posting by NJHK

From my experience with f-body cars, the ecm will need reflashed for this swap, is this true with the j-body? Why is there a need for a wiring harness swap? Do you need to replace the axles. Has anyone done a detailed tranny swap post that I might just be missing (with pictures)? How accurate is the parts listing in that post? If there isn't one with pictures I might do one if I can get enough information to get me started. 90% of my experience is RWD, so this will be interesting!!!!!

And thanks for answering any of my questions in advance...also, feel free to throw in any other advice, or items needed.

That post I made was probably the most detailed tranny swap post around.

The axles are the same for Autos and Manuals. If you scroll down in that post to where John Lenko had posted, he listed EVERYTHING you need because he has done it himself and I mean himself...no shop installed it for him. I don't think he took pictures for a step by step.

As far as a reflash...not sure.

Thanks for the quick reply! The original post was pretty good, I just wanted to be sure I knew what I was getting myself into.
