So i have a 4spd auto ecotec, and was wondering what mods i need to do to get my fourth gear to be at 2k rpm at around 65-70mph. I dont ever race this thing so performance dosent matter if it goes down a little. Thank you

Well I hate to break it to you man, but there's no way to change the ratio of the overdrive gear in your transmission. There are basically 4 different ratios in your auto trans, which consist of planetary gearsets that revolve around a sun gear to upshift and downshift. Hydraulic clutch packs apply pressure to the planetary gears, effectively engaging them to supply power through the transmission.

So switching ratios would basically require a complete rebuild of the entire transmission. Not in any way worth it

Hope that helps.

The planetary gear set is responsbile for 1-3.

An extra drum is activated (usually in front of the planetary) to slow down the ratio in 3rd, magically making 4th gear....

Or at least that is how it works in every transmission I have had my hands into.

You could try changing your tire sizes to something ALOT bigger. That would be like changing your gear ratio. Although your speedo would be off by alot. That's probably the easiest way. Other than ripping apart the tranny...
