Well I think this question would be more suggested in the transmission forum...

Also, my question is why would you want to do this? Are you trying to get a remote starter or something?

I looked at my schematics and it appears to be a 2 wire switch for the clutch saftey switch, try hooking them together and see if that works

i have never tried this, but it seems that hooking them together would work

Its easy to hook up a remote start with the clutch. When your hooking up the starter wire, tap it into the wire coming out of the clutch switch. Its a plug with 2 wires ontop of the clutch pedal.I think its a yellow and a purple wire.I forget which one i tapped into.If you have a test light, try to start the car without pushing down on the clutch. The wire that has no power is the one you use.

If it is a push button switch. Take the switch out and tape the button down into the body of the switch. Should be under the clutch pedal.

i know how dangerous it is ect.. i never leave my car in gear and im not an idiot. if im going to take the time to hold the 2 buttons down on my remote for like 3sec im going to remember if iput it in gear or not it gives me a sec to think ya know its not like i always use it anyway. But its not a push button.. it would be from my alarm remote.. ive heard the 2 wire thing before i could never find any wires.. i will also need a passlock wont i? people tell me i dont is there a way around it? thanx

Last year I broke my clutch pedal. I know it sounds ridiculous but it just snapped. Anyway, while I was bent over backwards on the floorboard with my head under the dash I took a metal clip that came off the broken pedal and pushed onto another metal peice that was flat and thin. The "clip" is permantley attatched the pedal, and the metal peice that it has to make contact with is on the firewall at your feet, behind the pedal. Soooooooo.... when you push the pedal in to start, these peices make contact, and you have your clutch start safety switch. My safety switch is no longer attached to my pedal, its permantly attached to the flat metal peice on the firewall and I no longer have to use the clutch to start the car. So look for it behind the clutch pedal! good luck.

well ive looked up around the pedal i see NO WIRES.. all i see is like a white pin that when u push the clutch in the pin pops out.. only thing i can think of it to take the pin off and let it hang.. or drill a hole thru the pedal so itgoes thru the pedal and the pin stays out.. im sure theres easier ways then this . i was up there looking last nite though i seen no sign of wires attached to my clutch pedal

I resent that statement. I always park in gear it is not dumb it is safer than you think. If by a freak chance you ebrake gives your car won't move and don't say it hasn't happened because i have seen in happen and it happened to . Christin Chapman and a few friends of mine. As for issues some one had an autostart on a manual not sure what happend but 2 days after major body work was finished the car ended up in a ditch.

This is not to say that many people have done this with no issues.

if you really wanted to be safer than sorry, i'm sure there's a way to check if the e-brake is set before bypassing the clutch. Like, if the ebrake is set, then it closes a relay that bypasses the clutch switch, and if it isn't set then the relay doesn't close. If your e-brake is set and the car is in gear, i highly doubt it'll start, and if it does, it hopefully won't get too far... It might, however, jump around a bit, so i might suggest parking a lil further away from objects than you usually would

if you put the car in first gear, set the brake and then start it, then release the cluch.....it will go a lot further than you think......my car will go about 3 feet

thats why u learn how to set an ebrake...

ebrake is set FIRST

in an automatic you set the ebrake...let off the brakes a little bit so that the load is being put on the ebrake and then you put the car in park.......load is on the ebrake...not the transmission

if it is a manual then you put the car in neutral....set the ebrake....take your foot off the brake so that the load is put on the ebrake and then put the car in gear......

Why dont you just get a remote start thats compatable with manual transmissions? When you park your car,you push the button for the remote start. When you turn the key off,the car will stay running. When you get out and arm the alarm the car will shut off.Thats how the alarm knows the cars not in gear. But if you open the door and rearm it,the remote start will not work. And if you start a car in gear,it will go alot farther than 3 feet.Once i hit my remote start by accident.Remote start+stage3 clutch=not pretty. With the stage 3 clutch, the car kept grabbing and wouldnt stop till it jumped the curb and 1of the wheels were off the ground. It was pretty funny, people were looking at the car like i didnt know how to drive, and they realized noone was in it.To this day i dont know how the car jumped a 1.5 foot curb without damaging the front bumper. This was at a mall, and the security guard had the nerve to try and make me pay for the dirt that i messed up.I just started laughing.
