NO

the bell housing from a 2.2 will not bolt to a 2.4........ and on the autos, you cant just swap bell housings like you can on manuals.....

You MIGHT be able to pick up an older 3speed auto out of a Grand Am, Berretta, Olds Cutlass, that had the 2.3 in it....... that will bolt to the 2.4, but you will loose your TCC lockup feature....... you'd have to wire something in.

You'd also need a Engine harness and PCM from a 5speed 2.4, for your engine to run.....

Not sure why you'd want the 3speed anyway.....

As far as the wiring is concerned it's only two wires, pretty simple.

Concerning why a 3 sp, although the 3 sp doen't have overdrive , you have more options for gearing and tunability. you can tune with shift kits and the TV cable. They use the same TCs. When th HP Tuners software comes out you'll have just about the same tuning capability on the 4T40Es, without getting your hands greasy!

its just that my car has the 3spd in it right now and as far as the autos go i think the 3spd is stronger than the 4spd . i also think its better than a man on a car with turbo. for the simple reason the turbo never comes out of boost even during shifting were a man the turbo has to spool back up after every shift. so i was just trying to use what i had instead of having to switch out pedals and weld new tran supports to my frame for the man.

The 3 speed can hold more power than the 4 speed BUT your talking about MUCH longer gearing which is why the 3 speeds are the slowest jbodies. If you were to build up a 3 speed and spend alot of money invested into...yeah it would be much more efficient but honestly, If I was to have an auto and build it up, I'd build up a 4 speed for the better gearing.

Also james, if you're going to get the 2.4 motor, you also need to take the transmission with it as well. Unfortunately, it's hard to interchange parts with j-bodies...we are unable to mix and match transmissions to different motors (unless you're talking about the 2.3s and the 2.4s which you can).
