B&M @!#$er+:4 ppl up to 99 Z24 2.4

hey, i just installed the shifter+. it took me 2 tries cause i the first time i connected the red wire with the red/black next to the dark blue wire(which was directly below the blue/white wire) and gotten the check engine light. so i disconnected the wiring and i connected the red wire to the red/black wire next to the blue/white wire, which was on the left side of it. ran the engine for a bit and the check engine light was gone. so now i think i got it correct, but when i took it for a spin and see the difference in shifting (i drove in gear 3, assumed i would feel more of the shifting thru the gears), but i didn't really feel a whole lot of difference. i took it back into the garage and looked over the wiring. now i didn't do the solder method, BUT i didnt use the wire connctors that were included in the kit (did seem like crap), so i bought another wire connector and everything looked OK from my point of view. any ideas? im thinking either i connected the wrong wire, again (but if i did would't the check engine light come on as will?), or the wires arent making a good connection(again check engine light wouldn't come on too?) i did test switching from 1 to 2 while drving and waited to see if the shifting changed but i didn't recognize any difference. if anyone might know why please let me know what im doin wrong. thanks in advice.

you need to shut off the engine before changing the setting. Seem like you still don't have the right wire cause there is a huge difference between stock and 1-2.

check this registry littlebill

you DONT need to shut off the car to change the setting, and I can change between off 1 and 2 in any order while I'm moving down the road and it changes instantly, gives me NO CELs and I've had it for about 1/2 a year.

95-98 don't need to shut off the engine.

If you have a 99+, you need to shut off the engine otherwise it doesn't work. I know, I've tried.

It works on my 99 z24. While I am in the staging lanes I normally turn it on, while the car is on. But only from off to 1or 2. I can't go from level 2 to off while car is on.

ok heres what i did:
-didn't solder BUT wrapped the wires from the shifter onto the corresponding tranny wires
-got no CELs but while im driving normally w/o either setting, 1 or 2, im good, but when i turn on setting 1 i get the ETS Off light and i feel the shiftings toughen up a bit (feels more like setting 2 though, cant tell the difference), same goes with setting 2. setting 2 feels like im driving in loop/limp mode. but from what ppl posted, its suppose to feel like that. i still dont get any CEL which is good, but the ETS Off comes on
-i double-checked my IAT sensor and its plugged snugly into my intake pipe, so thats not the problem.

has anyone ever came across this situation b4? thanks in advance.

another question. on the dash, alot of ppl posted if they turn the setting on 2 they get the trac light occur, is that the 'trac low' light or the 'ETS Off' light that comes on?
goin back, when i start my car on setting 1, its on 1 and i can tell but after a few minutes the ETS Off comes on and im guessing it went into limp mode. someone from the many many previous posts mentioned to push the plug in harder still even after the click-done that. im all out of ideas. my only guess is a loose or no connection between the shifter and the tranny. but i made sure it was making contact by wrapping the stripped shifter wire around the tranny wire 3-4 times, tightened. please let me know what you guys think. i know im a newb i'll admit it.

mine is like that. setting 1 will throw the ETS off light after a few second. On setting 2, the light come on as soon as I start the engine.

I don't know about that. I have to turn my car off to change the settings on my 97 2.2.

Mfk-223, on setting 1, does your car feel any different in the shiftings from either normal or 2?

ETS off is fine.
My 96 Z24 I can go from off to 1 or 2, but have to put the car in park and turn it off for it to take affect.

on setting 1 it's shifting really hard. on setting #2 it's even harder. #1 and #2 seem pretty close to the same thing but #2 is harder. you see the difference when you put it in gear.

I like the ETS off light, that way I know the Shift plus is working.
