The other day I'm at my friends house and I go to start my 03 cav so I put my foot on the clutch and it just drops to the floor. I get out and the resesvoir is bone dry my friend gets on the ground and we see clutch fluid leaking from the tranny I have the car towed to a dealership (car is still under warranty, 19k miles) so they tell me that its from driving it and it wouldn't be coverd but my gfs mom works there so she took care of it. My question is, have any of you guys experienced this, and is it from driving hard?
WTF , how you susposed to move it if you dont drive it
you had a hydralic failure , not a wear issue
and its not cause from driving hard
Thats what I was thinking, damn dealerships. thanks man
the same thing happened to my clutch last friday. the dealership told me there was a hole in the hydraulic fluid line and it would be covered under warranty.
ya, there is no way in the world you drove your car to rough and blew that, mine failed a couple months ago after 100,000 miles it blew a seal out of the front, no chance its from driving hard, how can you be doing any damage, your pushing a lever, weather you push it quick or slow shouldnt make any difference, especially not in 19,000 miles

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I dunno what I'd do without the org
Ok where is the clutch actuator and how hard is it to replace? I am thinking I found a hole in my hydraulic line from the trans master cylinder to the tranny...but it was too hard to tell being that being stuck on the side of the road (no median or pull off) kinda got my blood pumping and needed to get the car working and bleeding the system.....fluid was flying everywhere....
I have an 04 Cavi....
Help QUICK
You need a take the tranny out to replace it. Expensive little thing too.
Yeah $309 retail definitely not cheap. Does anyone have a tranny manual that covers 2004 getrag trannys that is in CD form that can send me an ISO of or something???
If so just send it or send me the link to sosaudio1@bellsouth.net
This is making me sick. I can't afford the freaking part, let alone have the money to afford someone in town doing the labor (hmmm do I trust anyone to work on my car and
NOT mess it up???) and I need the freaking tools to mount the thing to and to hold the freaking engine in place.........UGH I AM PISSED.....
If anyone knows where I can get the part for cheaper or can pay someone installments and then if anyone is close by Huntsville AL and wants to spend a weekend or two fixing the POS with me and a friend of mine, lemmie know....
DXRAY, thanks man for replying
Also...freakin haynes, the most vague manual in the world, refers to a "clutch release cylinder and bearing. Is this the same part as the actuator???
Thanks for your help!!!! As soon as I get this shiz done, I will be more than happy to help anyone else out with the same prob

Slave cylinder? I've got an extra one sitting here. Pay shipping and it's yours.

Is it the one that is internal in the tranny?? Cuz the actuator on mine is internal
The release bearing and the actuator is all one peice. You don't really need special tools to take the tranny out. I took mine out 4 times, twice by myslef. Just jack up the car pretty high and place a jack or blocks under the oil pan to hold the engine while you take the tranny out. When i did it myself i used a engine hoist to hold the tranny up while i try to put it in place. But with 2 guys you can muscle it into place. Just don't get too drunk while doing it, u might forget to put in a couple things.
cool dude...you are hired...LOL I wish I had a engine stand for my tranny.....
It is cool, I got a few guys that said they would help so....hopefully after a couple weekends we can get it back to normal....HEY anyone got a extra Limited Slip Diff that they wanna part with so that I can put it in at the same time for a good price????
Hey...how many GM techs do we have here???? Do we have justification for a recall on this part?
Anyhooo...off to go to band practice in my wife's purple sunfire with a screwed up AutoTranny....any got a.......nevermind....LOL
I was wonder the same thing, it seems like alot of us are having the same problem.

Yes we are..anyone know how to get that started....lemmie know. I will be the first to start it if we need to...maybe we can see if by getting a recall, some of you could get refunded if you had to pay for your work.....

ok so here I am just another person who had a blown actuator. I asked the guy at the shop I took it to to see what he thought of the failure, his response was "it is just a poor design". I asked him what do we do to start a recall, he said to call GM and call NHTSA. Numbers are found in the back of our owners manuals...He suggested being calm and seeing what could be done about getting possible reimbursement...or for them to go at least half way. I am going to try. If you guys still have your paperwork where they did the work, you may get one too. He said you need to prove that your life was endangered and I think mine was, considering I was in the middle of the FREAKIN road and could not fix it by my self...
Just glad I got it fixed. Cost me $836.48 for it all including the $50 tow. Kinda sux that it went out at 49,xxx miles.....and yeah, it is a 2004. What can I say, I love to drive.
