swapping a z24 trans

i have a friend that is trying to replace his tranny. do you need to pull the motor out to do this? his car is a '96 z24 turbo. thanks.

Im Pretty sure you do, unless you wanna drop the subframe and bring the tranny out that way. Just a thought

You can do either, just up to you if you want to lift up a transmission or just drop it in. I would pull engine and transmission....

I dropped my tranny out the bottom. I would say its so much easier that way. All you have to do is disconect the sub brace that gos from the A-arm.subframe to the radiater support. I got my tranny out through the bottom a couple of days ago after removing the axles in about a half hourto 45 minutes. getting it in is the hard part unless you have 2 peaple.

i dropped mine twice from the bottom to work on it and then raplace it. it is eaiser, u dont loose coolant, oil, or have to worriy about hurting the motor ne. just ahve smeone help you and it is quite easy!
