Hey guys I got a Quaife LSD for my car and it is a Getrag F23 tranny, I have a very knowledgeable person putting the LSD in only problem is that he doesn't know weather I am going to need to replace the OUTPUT BEARINGS.

When I talked to him, this is what he said. """ I don't know weather I am going to be able to get the OUTPUT bearings out of the OLD DIFF. without messing them up.
I DSM's you cannot get them out without ruining them so they just buy new ones and they are like $17 a piece, so you might as well go get them before I start doing the job in the case it is the same problem""""

Now I went to dealership and these things are """""""""$91"""""""" A PIECE and they are special order so I cannot bring them back.

Here is a question??
Has anyone messed with the DIFFERENTIAL to the same point and can they tell me weather these bearings are easy to get out without ruining???????
If he can get them out easy then I won't have to replace them.
And I don't think they would be THAT MUCH if they had to be replaced!!

So tranny guys this is a question for you?

if i am not mistaken you cannot remove those bearings and re-use them you pretty much comletely detroy them when you pull them off

are you talking about the bearing that are on the differential. and the chases to them are machined into the housing

Yes, I am talking about the bearings that are on the point of the diff where the axles plug in.Do they come out boosted??

if the shop knows what they are doing they might be able to heat them off , but its very likely either way they would get damaged

the best thing you can do is spend the money and get new bearings

to me at the point your at its why be cheap , and half ass it

if it was a minor part and easily replaced , i could understand it

but for the price of the quaffie , and the labor involved , i dont see it as being a place to be cheap on

Yea you are right except all this pop-ups are just going to delay the instalation and postpone the track time.

Sorry i have never tried taking them out. Good luck though. BTW i think that i sheared my flywheel bolts off. I don't think that i will ever get to have fun with the car

I hear what you are saying but can they come out with no problems or do they have to be pressed out as well as they are pressed in.

Building sucks, track time rules, I am going to take the car out one last time on a pag leg and stock clutch this Sunday.

if u get the # off the bearings then call napa or such. they stock bearing like that. i was in the same boat and napa had them for like 12 bucks
