My sister's car is a 95 Cav with a 2.2 and 3T40, 170K miles on it. Just the other day it started having trany problems.
Symptoms: Does not shift up.
If you accelerate easily (20-60% Throttle) it will not shift. Sometime (not often) it will shift from first to second. It will not shift up to third.
If you accelerate hard (70-100% throttle) it will shift as normal. From first to second at ~30MPH, and second to third at ~55MPH.
Steps Taken Already: Checked the fluid level. Noticed it was rather brown (not terrible, but not good). So I dropped the pan, replaced the filter, and filled her up with new fluid. I followed the procedures in a Chilton book (which all seemed logical).
Status: Still has the exact same problems as when I started, although shifts seem to be more firm (probably the new fluid).
Any suggestions on things to look for, common problems, past experiences with the same symptoms and resolutions?
first its not an eco
third, the throttle shifter linkage or watever its called is sretched out.

My bad. Didn't think about it when I typed the title.
Thanks for the suggestion. Someone else said to check the same thing today.
I'll swap in a new cable tomorrow and see how it runs.
