there is a 2.2 tranny out of a 2000 cavalier and i was looking at buying it but i don't know if it would fit my 97 2.4 l DOHC. is this tranny totaly diffrent or does it just have a diffrent bellhousing

I don't think a 2.2l tranny will fit on a 2.4l motor.

From what (little) I know... the tranny will work, but the bellhousing won't. I think the 00+ aka getrag F23 comes with a two-part bellhousing (at least mine has) so you could in theory get a 2.4L centre piece and swap it out... assuming you can't find a whole 2.4L tranny.

The gearing is probably different tho. It should swap, if you can find the right gears.
