Hey all.
I just got my car back from the shop after getting a new diff, and a CV shaft. I just have one problem now. I can't get it in reverse! My shifter seems extremely tight, and getting it in reverse is almost impossible. I was told that the guy who replaced the tranny before didnt even bolt it ip on a mount, so the tranny was kinda falling out. He also said that could of caused stress on the linkage. I was just wondering if anyone else had ths problem before, my car did not have this problem before i brought it into the shop.
getting it to fifth is a lil stiff too.... i just want my car to run good. im tired of spending money on this thing.
any help would be great.
Thank you
1996 pontiac sunfire GT,
Maybe ur shift cables need to be adjusted. so when u move ur shifter to the right it pulls enough to go into fifth and reverse. see if its easier to shift with the centre console out.
Take it back to the shop!

Actually thats an even better idea
the clutch could possibly need rebleed or just pumped for a little while. When i got my transmission changed i went to pick it up from the shop and my shifter would not move at all so i asked him and he got in it and pumped the clutch and now it goes in to gears just fine.
