Poped my charger :-(
Friday, January 20, 2006 4:45 AM
well last night i had to drive my car back to base because my shift linkage broke... any way i had to drive it 7 miles at about 5000 rpm... about 3\4 way there i notesaed my lights dim..... broken belt, no big deal, any way i pop my hood at the shop on base... oil everywere..... and it dident smell like motor oil ....... i spun the pulley ant it free spins for 30 degrees befor the rotors turn, the rotors are fine and dont hit each other so the damnage may be in the snout........ i hope.

oh well

Chris

Attaches the snout shaft to the gears on the rotors.

the snout is different but the coupler is the same. It deff sounds like a coupler though. The stock one is fairly crappy and known for goin on the GTP's and SSEI's

whatever gm sells the s/c oil in (think its 7 oz bottle no?), you only need 3/4 of one bottle.. I refreshened mine up when i installed it, but can't remember exactly how much it was. All I know, was that it wasn't a complete bottle. If that helps any.

What were you doing to break the shift linkage?

From that site-
Quote:

A worn coupler will cause a rattling noise at idle.

Funny because both of my chargers have made a ticking sound to an extent, but the first one was brand new upon install.

Also listening.
