i wouldnt go smaller than a gt30.

but then again, you can score a bb t28 off or a jdm nissan for around 400.

that sounds like a descent choice.

They ship, modify turbos, rebuild high performance turbos, offer great tech and service, basically everything.

They are anybodys one stop shop for turbos whether your just trying to dyno 200 hp or 1500 hp.

Personally, when I get boost, I want the GT28RS aka the Disco Potato

I'm using a turbo from a 1990 R32 Skyline type-m. In the later model years the turbos were roughly super 60 compressors but with twin ceramic ball bearing and a ceramic turbine shaft/wheel, supporting about 320 hp at 12psi. Mine has an HKS composite compressor wheel as well. Awesome stuff.. Look for a Nissan 16v or a 45v1, 45v2 or 45v4.
The 45v1 was on single turbo VG30 Fairladies and is the biggest BB Nissan turbo of them all.. it even came with a composite compressor wheel stock. The other two came on RB25DET R33 skylines and have slightly bigger turbines than the type-m R32, but a smaller compressor trim.Hybrids are doable, just have it balanced. Beware though as ceramic turbine wheels don't like to spool over 15psi.. and watch your EGTs.

GT28R will only be good to about 280 wheel and thats with very good tuning (and by very good tuning, i mean a retuned ecu)... that's what most 1.8T's with good software max out at on that turbo. Not saying this as anything against the turbo, just letting you know. They are however cheap, and will spool like a mother on a 2.2

$720 at kinetic motorsport, and for a brand new ball bearing turbo, yes, it IS cheap. But then again i'm not the typical cheapass J-owner either.
